Under current legislation, IMG has insufficient possibilities to prevent future damage caused by earthquakes. An amendment to the Tijdelijke Wet Groningen has been requested for this purpose. Ahead of the entry into force of this amendment, the Minister of EZK has published a Temporary Mandate based on which IMG can and may implement Sustainable Recovery. This means that IMG now has the opportunity not only to repair damage but also to take measures to make the chance of future damage significantly lower.
