Reconstruction Kruislandseweg Municipality of Halderberge
Redesign of the Kruislandseweg to increase traffic safety and transform the entrance of Oud Gastel into a green, climate-adaptive park with a mobility hub.

01What is being requested
The assignment concerns the redesign of the Kruislandseweg as the entrance to Oud Gastel, whereby traffic safety is increased through speed reduction and the construction of two roundabouts. The project also includes the transformation of the surroundings into a green park with wadis, a mobility hub, and the Menkenvijver.
The Kruislandseweg was originally a provincial road with an 80 km/h design and an intersection with a traffic light (VRI). A participation process has been completed, resulting in a DO. The speed regime will be reduced to 50 km/h within the built-up area and 60 km/h outside the built-up area, including the corresponding road design. In addition to the traffic engineering aspect, a new park area will be created with space for water storage, walking paths, and greenery. There is also space for a bus transfer point with associated facilities. The design provides the basis for the construction tea
02Strategic insight
During execution, focus on the landscape experience and the integration of water and greenery. It is essential to strengthen biodiversity through varied planting and wadis. Ensure a seamless connection between traffic safety and the new park function.
