African Swine Fever (hereinafter: ASF) has led to outbreaks in wild boar and domestic pigs since its introduction in 2014 in the eastern part of the European Union. In recent years, outbreaks have been identified in 14 different European member states. In 2018, an outbreak among wild boar in Belgium led to large-scale restrictions. Since 2020, Germany has been struggling with multiple outbreaks in domestic pigs and wild boar.
