Modification of drinking water cellar 3 Hoorn
PWN Waterleidingbedrijf Noord-Holland has launched a non-public tender for the replacement of the roof of drinking water cellar 3 at the Hoorn distribution pumping station. The cellar, built around 2012-2013, shows cracking and leakage in the concrete roof, making repair unfeasible. The objective is a sustainable roof replacement so that the cellar can once again serve for the storage and supply of safe drinking water to the region. The assignment concerns structural works with an emphasis on watertightness, structural integrity, and minimal disruption to the water supply infrastructure. Suppliers must demonstrate experience with similar projects, comply with Dutch water safety standards, and present a detailed plan for the covering and testing of the new roof construction.

At its Hoorn distribution pumping station, located at Leekerpad 1689PB in Zwaag, PWN has six drinking water cellars for the storage of drinking water for the region. Drinking water cellar 3 was built around 2012-2013. Following commissioning and subsequent inspection, cracking and leakage were found in the (concrete) roof. Adequate repair for re-commissioning proved impossible, after which it was decided that the roof must be replaced so that drinking water cellar 3 becomes available again for the storage and supply of clean and safe drinking water.
