01What is being requested
The redevelopment of the Appeltjesmarkt/Europarking into a neighborhood hub with additional local amenities. This includes four sub-projects: the redevelopment of the real estate, the redesign of the bus station, the realization of a transshipment point for goods at the quay, and the redesign of the square.
On July 7, 2025, the Municipality of Amsterdam adopted the Gebiedsagenda Appeltjesmarkt/Europarking. The goal is to redevelop this area into a neighborhood hub. The Gebiedsagenda provides scope for a water-based logistics hub on the north side of the Europarking. Here, goods can be supplied (and removed) via water, brought to land (low quay), stored briefly in a built facility, and driven out using Light Electric Freight Vehicles (LEVV's) from the high quay to various locations in the city. The municipality aims to stimulate waterborne transport to reduce road traffic in the busy city center a
02Strategic insight
The development must align closely with the Hubsvisie and the objectives of the Agenda Autoluw. The integrated approach of the four different sub-projects must be taken into account.
