01What is being requested
The assignment concerns the construction of a retaining structure (stepped revetment and wooden sheet piles) for the Bioswale in the Pegasusstraat in Den Haag, including ensuring soil and water tightness by means of a 5 cm bentonite layer.
Municipality of Den Haag intends to bring a Design, Build & Maintain (DBM) contract to the market with a maintenance period of 30 years for the development of a design, the construction, the management, the monitoring of the groundwater level, and the control of the water quality of a Bioswale. The municipality wishes to learn from the market what the feasibility, possibilities, and opportunities are for the project. The insights obtained must lead to follow-up steps and a procurement process in which the requirements are optimally aligned with the knowledge and expertise of the market.
02Strategic insight
Ensure strict execution of the bentonite layer, where the flatness of the subsoil and the water level are crucial for water tightness. When working near the existing water pipe, exercise extra caution by using exclusively handheld equipment for compaction. Pay attention to the structural coherence between the revetment and the sheet piles via the wooden transverse connections.
