01What is being requested
The contract concerns the redesign of the Noordelijke Parallelweg e.o. in Arnhem into a 30 km/h residential street/bicycle street. Works include, among other things, the replacement of approx. 980 m¹ concrete sewerage, the application of approx. 7,000 m² / 3,000 tons of asphalt paving and working with approx. 14,500 m² paving elements.
The Municipality of Arnhem has decided to design the Noordelijke Parallelweg e.o. as a 30 km/h residential street, where the bicycle is largely the leading mode of transport and motorized traffic is subordinate and a guest (bicycle street). The street will become part of an important bicycle route (‘Om de Noord’). In the new design, the street will be designed to be traffic-calmed and conducive to staying/living. The redesign is combined with major maintenance of the public space, including renewal of the road surface and the sewerage.
