The reason for the redesign project is the poor condition of the sewerage, the management problems in the public area, and the outdated layout in the Indische Buurt. At present, the public space of the Indische Buurt is outdated in many places and subject to management problems such as root heave, outdated paving materials, and slight subsidence (10 – 20 cm). Due to the poor condition of the sewerage and the existing house and manhole connections, regular maintenance and/or replacement of the latter connections is required.
