01What is being requested
This contract includes the approach to seven existing fish passages and the realisation of one new fish passage on the Meuse to improve fish connectivity.
KRW 8 is a realisation agreement for the Water Framework Directive, with the aim of improving the ecological quality of the river system. Studies have shown that the current river system of the Meuse, with its weirs and fish ladders, functions suboptimally for migratory fish. With the realisation of KRW 8, the ability for fish to pass the weirs in the Meuse will be improved and fish migration stimulated. The contractor must primarily perform the following works: • Construction of a new fish ladder near the Lith weir/lock complex; • Optimisation of 7 fish ladders at the weirs in the Meuse;
